Below is an annotated list of children's historical fiction for
the elementary classroom, completed by pre-service teachers at Montclair State
University. A group of teacher candidates read, reviewed and critiqued each book. Each post provides insights into how the text might be used in the elementary setting, alignment to NJ Social Studies Standards, and teacher resources. The books are categorized by
the Six Elements of Social Justice Curriculum Design (Picower, 2012). The definitions of the six elements can be found here
